demo of the NEW album 'Celestial City'
Mark 'Fingermix' Smith, born in London, England, has been playing piano since the age of 5. By aged 11 he was already performing his own compositions in school, a year later having a main role in Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. At 18, Mark had already started touring the country with his first band and had started producing his own music, along with future local Birmingham R'n'B music stars Linslee, Danny, AKA, D-Swing, and others. After serving a full time mission in the Arizona Phoenix misson, for the Church or Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he returned home after a successful mission and began a moderately flourishing career writing and re-mixiing, for UK independent soul record lables. In 1993, M&kk Productions was formed and was acclaimed by Steve Jervier (producer of Take That and Michelle Gayle of 'Reborn in the USA') as the new breed of R'n'B producers, through the album 'Stereotype', featuring Evon Nelson, Jaqui George and Wayne Fraser, which was played at Birmingham's SWV Concert and reached No.3 in the Echoes Soul Chart, later re-distributed by Beechwood Music as part of 'This Is Swing'. In 1997, Beverley Knight's lable Dome Records commissioned a remix for her 'Moving On Up' single, under the name D-lux, which was single of the week in UK blues and soul, going on to do another remix from her album and work with two other artists from the lable, releases going worldwide. Mark achieved a college grade certificate in drama at his local college at the time. In 2001, Mark came to America for almost 2 years, to tour, act and write in Utah, becoming also known as the Mormon Stevie Wonder. Mark was accepted as a volunteer, playing a slave in the hit musical 'Civil War', highly praised and offered more work by director Marylyn Montgomery, performing on TV and at the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympics. In 2003, Fingermix released his solo album 'Where We Are', with British and Dutch singers, setting the benchmark standard of quality R'n'B as an international performer. Mark continues to work in the Utah community and within the US, with several artists on different projects, including a new solo album, ''Celestial City' due for release in 2007.
